US INL Praises NDLEA's Successes, Promises Continued Support

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Derek Tolliver, the Country Director of the United States International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its recent operational successes during a courtesy visit to NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) at the agency's headquarters in Abuja. Tolliver expressed the United States' commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fight against illicit drugs and acknowledged the NDLEA's remarkable achievements under Marwa's leadership.

Marwa thanked Tolliver for his appointment and recognized the longstanding partnership between Nigeria and the United States, highlighting the significant contributions of various US agencies, including INL, DEA, AFRICOM, and the FBI, to the NDLEA's operational capacity. He noted the modernization of forensic laboratories and the provision of operational vehicles by INL, which have enhanced the agency's capabilities.

Marwa cited the dismantling of a methamphetamine laboratory in Ogun State as evidence of the effectiveness of the forensic tools provided through US support.
