Akpabio Threatens Legal Action Over Faulty NASS Microphones

On Wednesday, during a plenary session, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, announced his intention to pursue legal action against a contractor responsible for the renovation of the National Assembly complex, specifically citing issues with faulty microphones. Akpabio highlighted the difficulties faced by senators due to malfunctioning microphones, which have hindered debates and caused embarrassment for the assembly.

He recalled a similar situation that occurred in the House of Representatives, where the Speaker faced embarrassment due to technical problems. Akpabio urged lawmakers to recognize the repeated failures of the contractor and indicated that evidence justifying legal action exists.

He emphasized the need for accountability to ensure that the contractor performs adequately, stating that legal steps would be taken to address the ongoing issues and prevent further embarrassment for the National Assembly.
