Akpabio Declares He Was in the Wrong Party, PDP

During the inauguration of Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Abuja, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, remarked that he was in the wrong party, referring to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He stated that he spent seven years as the governor of Akwa Ibom State and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 after realizing that the PDP was a fragmented party.

Akpabio urged members of the APC to disregard comments made about the PDP's performance, specifically those made by Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, who described the PDP's performance as uncommon. Akpabio emphasized the need for unity within the APC and acknowledged Wike's contributions to infrastructure development in Rivers State.

He humorously recounted Wike's visit to Akwa Ibom during his tenure as governor and urged Wike to support the APC, highlighting the importance of delivering infrastructure as part of their political journey.
