Akpabio Calls Wike PDP's National Leader Amid Tensions

On Friday, Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), referred to Nyesom Wike as the national leader of the winning faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Akpabio made these remarks while urging Nigerians to ignore Wike's comments, which he deemed irrelevant.

He highlighted his own record as an "uncommon performer" during his tenure as governor of Akwa Ibom State. The comments were made during an event that celebrated President Bola Tinubu's third year in office.

Akpabio introduced Wike at the event, emphasizing the need for the PDP to focus on its current challenges rather than past grievances. He also mentioned that the PDP has fragmented and needs to recognize its leadership structure moving forward.
