Woman Confronts Police Over Phone Search in Lagos

In Lagos, a woman intervened in a situation where police officers allegedly attempted to take two young boys away after searching their phones. The confrontation was recorded and shared on social media by an X user, @dammiedammie35, who documented the woman's demands for the boys' release.

The woman questioned the officers' actions, particularly their targeting of young men with hairstyles. One boy claimed that while his phone was still being checked, the officers forcibly pushed another boy into a police van and slapped him.

An officer justified the search, stating that the boys were resisting and warned them to show respect. The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with users sharing similar experiences of police encounters in Ikorodu.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, had previously warned officers against searching individuals' phones during stop-and-search operations, emphasizing that they should focus on vehicle checks instead.
