FCT Police Chief Sanusi Warns Officers Against Extortion

Ahmad Sanusi, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), issued a stern warning to police officers regarding extortion practices during a strategic briefing on ongoing security and traffic enforcement operations in Abuja. Sanusi stated that officers must choose between being police officers or thieves, highlighting that the command will not shield any uniformed extortionists targeting commercial tricycle (keke) riders and motorists across Abuja.

This warning comes in response to public complaints about police extortion, which have reportedly reached a tipping point. The FCT administration is preparing to take action against corrupt officers, as Sanusi expressed a zero-tolerance policy towards such misconduct, emphasizing that reports of extortion will be taken seriously.
