Violence Disrupts Delta APC Leadership Meeting, Injuries Reported

A leadership meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central was disrupted by violence on Saturday at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State. Eyewitnesses reported that physical altercations broke out among attendees, with chairs and other objects thrown, resulting in injuries to several party members.

One of the injured was identified as a Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Government, who was seen leaving the venue in videos shared widely. The confrontation is believed to stem from disagreements among factions within the party, particularly between supporters of a Delta State commissioner and those linked to the governor’s Senior Special Assistant, who joined the party last year.

Founding members of the party reportedly felt sidelined by new members regarding party benefits. The meeting was abandoned by leaders and their security aides for safety, and there were reports of vandalism.

Calls for a thorough investigation into the incident have emerged, emphasizing the need for accountability and adherence to democratic principles.
