DSS Officer Fires Gun at FRSC Officials in Abuja

On Friday afternoon, a serious incident occurred in Abuja's Idu area when a Department of State Services (DSS) officer opened fire on officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) during a routine traffic enforcement operation. The confrontation began around 3:20 PM when the driver of a Toyota Carina allegedly ignored traffic directives and continued to drive recklessly, causing a traffic jam near the FRSC command office.

FRSC spokesperson Osondu Ohaeri reported that the situation escalated when the driver became verbally aggressive and advanced towards the officer, who then fired two shots. This caused panic among bystanders and motorists.

Fortunately, FRSC personnel managed to disarm the suspect without any loss of life, although one marshal sustained minor injuries during the struggle. The suspect was found with a firearm and ammunition and was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Moha condemned the attack and praised the officers for their restraint, emphasizing that no security personnel is above the law.
