Soldier Shoots CSO During Altercation in Keffi

On April 9, 2026, at approximately 3:40 AM, a soldier from the Troop 177 Guard Battalion shot a Chief Security Officer (CSO) during an altercation in Keffi, Nasarawa State. The incident took place during a night patrol when the troop encountered a dispute involving the CSO and a commercial motorcyclist.

Following the dismissal of the motorcyclist by the CSO, the soldier reportedly intervened on behalf of the motorcyclist. The situation escalated when the CSO allegedly slapped the soldier, who then attempted to disarm the CSO and grab his rifle.

During the struggle, the CSO was shot. The CSO was immediately evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi for medical attention.
