Federal Government Launches Key Road Projects in Osun, Oyo

The Federal Government officially flagged off the construction of the Osogbo–Akoda–Gbangan and Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Roads in Osun and Oyo States, aimed at improving transportation and stimulating economic growth. The ground-breaking ceremony was performed by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oyetola expressed satisfaction that these road projects, initiated during his tenure as Governor of Osun State, are now being reconstructed using rigid pavement. He emphasized the projects' importance for infrastructure renewal, connectivity, road safety, and socio-economic activities.

The scope includes site clearance, milling of existing pavement, and construction of a cement-stabilized base and continuously reinforced concrete pavement. The Honourable Minister of Works, David Umahi, stated that these projects reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to critical road infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to enhance trade, create jobs, and improve security.

Umahi assured that the projects would be completed within stipulated timelines and are strategic investments despite concerns over government borrowing.
