Bandit Leader Bello Turji Ready for Talks or War

Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, announced that his group is prepared for either negotiations or war with the Nigerian government in response to recent attacks by security forces in Sokoto and Zamfara States. In a video dated June 20, 2026, Turji appeared alongside armed men in military uniforms, claiming responsibility for ambushes against government forces.

He stated that the group launched attacks to retaliate against the killing of their members and the theft of livestock by security personnel. Turji expressed a desire for peace talks but made it clear that they are fully armed and ready to confront government forces if necessary.

He emphasized their commitment to defending themselves and indicated that the group would not back down from armed resistance. The video surfaced following a deadly attack near Bargaja village in Sokoto State, where an explosive device detonated and gunmen opened fire on military vehicles, reportedly killing at least four soldiers.
