Taraba Monarch Urges Action Against Banditry at Assembly

During the 2026 Kwararafa People’s Assembly meeting in Abuja, the Taraba monarch expressed alarm over the ongoing siege by bandits affecting the old Kwararafa Confederacy. He reported that numerous communities across Benue, Kogi, Taraba, Southern Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger have suffered from banditry, herders-farmers violence, and kidnappings, leading to widespread displacement and turning many into refugees.

The monarch highlighted the dire situation where farmers cannot access their farms and children are unable to attend school. He called for genuine and sustained assistance to the affected communities.

Dr. Ali, the chief convener of the meeting, noted the historical unity of the Kwararafa Confederacy and the need for contemporary cohesion among its diverse peoples. Governor Agbu Kefas, also a core convener, affirmed his commitment to the assembly, emphasizing that his role is personal and not an official government initiative, aimed at fostering peace and cooperation based on shared heritage.
