Tension Erupts Over Blocked Election Results in Abuja

During the collation of results for the councillorship elections in Garki, Abuja, party agents clashed with officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over access to result sheets. The dispute began when agents accused electoral officials of blocking their access to verify results before final figures were announced.

Tensions escalated as officials declared councillorship results without allowing agents to check their records, leading to protests and heated exchanges inside the collation hall. Agents insisted on transparency, particularly since the chairmanship results had been checked.

The situation caused confusion among voters and disrupted the collation process. Earlier results from the chairmanship elections indicated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was leading, with two chairmanship results still pending.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the Gwagwalada area council seat, with Christoph Maikalangu of the APC securing 40,295 votes, defeating the closest challenger from the ADC, who received 12,109 votes.
