ADC Accuses Enugu Governor Mbah of Heavy Tax Burden

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State has raised concerns regarding Governor Peter Mbah's administration, accusing him of imposing a severe financial burden on residents. In a statement signed by Paul Anigbogu on behalf of the ADC Media Team, the party described Mbah's tax regime as ruthless and unprecedented in the state's 35-year history.

They alleged that Mbah has initiated extensive demolitions in Enugu and Nsukka under the guise of urban renewal, displacing hundreds of traders, particularly at Old Park in Enugu and Ogige Market in Nsukka. The ADC criticized the significant increases in taxes, utility rates, business premises charges, and property taxes, labeling these policies as detrimental to residents and businesses.

They stated that instead of creating wealth, Mbah's government has fostered misery since he took office on May 29, 2023. The ADC also questioned the necessity of Mbah's book unveiling on his administration's projects, suggesting that if the projects were impactful, there would be no need for such advertising.

Additionally, they accused him of not fulfilling his 2023 campaign promise to restore potable water supply within 180 days of taking office.
