Lawmaker Accuses APC of Electoral Act Amendment Fraud

Fred Agbedi, a member of the House of Representatives, disclosed that during the deliberations on the Electoral Act amendment, there were significant disruptions that denied members their right to be heard. He accused the leadership of the House of representing a partisan exercise that marginalized minority lawmakers.

Agbedi argued that the legislative process should accommodate diverse views, but the debate became polarized, particularly when members of the Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly directed a bloc vote. He claimed that the outcome of the process did not reflect public expectations and asserted that lawmakers were defrauded in the final position regarding the amendment.

The discussions were intended to cut across party lines but ultimately fell into partisanship, undermining the integrity of the electoral reform process.
