INEC Addresses Flaws for Credible 2027 Elections in Niger

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Niger State, represented by Dr. Oliv Tersoo Agundu, assured residents that it is addressing all flaws that undermined previous elections to ensure the credibility, transparency, inclusiveness, and security of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

During an interactive session with civil society organizations and journalists at the commission's headquarters in Minna, Agundu identified logistical and operational gaps from past elections and outlined measures to strengthen the electoral process. He emphasized that no eligible voter would be disenfranchised, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities (PWDs), who will receive greater support during the elections.

Agundu confirmed the successful testing of Braille ballot guides for visually impaired voters and reiterated the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, which has seen 2.63 million permanent voter cards (PVCs) collected in Niger State, with 69,000 PVCs remaining unclaimed.
