Governor Umo Eno Highlights Governance Challenges in Press Conference

On the occasion of his third anniversary, Governor Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State held a press conference at the Government House in Uyo, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in governance. Aniekan Umanah, the Commissioner for Information, presented a comprehensive overview of the administration's achievements over the past three years.

During the event, which saw the participation of 300 journalists, several pressing issues were raised, including the problem of cattle roaming the streets and the presence of mentally ill individuals in Uyo. Koko Essien, a retired general, questioned the effectiveness of the anti-open grazing law, stating it has not prevented cattle from wandering.

Dr. Offiong Offor, the Commissioner for Agriculture, faced criticism regarding the handling of farmland invasion complaints. Additionally, concerns were raised about the lack of psychiatric facilities for mentally ill individuals, with suggestions for the government to establish an asylum.

The conference highlighted the need for better communication and management skills among senior officials.
