Dele Momodu Backs Adeleke for Osun Governorship Election

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), announced his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party for a second term in Osun State, despite being a member of a rival opposition party. In a statement made on Tuesday, Momodu urged opposition parties to prioritize collective interests over individual ambitions and unite behind Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

He joined the ADC to form a coalition against the APC, which he described as a "cankerworm" damaging Nigeria's economy and democratic institutions. Momodu expressed disappointment that the coalition did not materialize as planned but maintained hope that Nigerians would rise against the APC.

He argued that the current situation in Osun State necessitates immediate alignment of opposition parties to support Adeleke, whom he described as a "global phenomenon" capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu in popularity. Momodu emphasized that his endorsement is based on Adeleke's performance and not personal ties.
