Kano Governor's Casual Paris Appearance Sparks Debate

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf's recent appearance at the International Agricultural Show in Paris without his traditional red cap has ignited significant debate on social media regarding his political identity. The red cap is a strong symbol associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement, which Yusuf was part of under the mentorship of former political leader Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

His recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) marks a notable political shift, leading to realignments within party structures and mixed reactions among supporters. Some loyalists pledged to follow him to the APC, while others reaffirmed their allegiance to Kwankwaso's Kwankwasiyya fold.

Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, dismissed claims that Yusuf's attire signified an abandonment of his political roots, stating that the choice was simply casual and influenced by foreign engagement protocols. He noted that Yusuf has previously been seen without the red cap during international travels, including a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
