NLO's Ogunnowo Advocates for Young Footballer Development

Dr. Shola Ogunnowo, the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), called on clubs in the league to adhere strictly to its rules and legal framework during the July edition of the Super Interview on the Sports World WhatsApp platform.

He expressed concern over some club owners fielding established professional players in a league designed to nurture emerging football talents, which he stated undermines football development in Nigeria. Ogunnowo accused certain clubs of attempting to manipulate documents to evade sanctions, describing such actions as detrimental to both the NLO and the growth of Nigerian football.

He reaffirmed the league's commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring compliance among participating clubs. Ogunnowo highlighted that the NLO has successfully created pathways for clubs to transfer players to Europe, thus providing valuable career opportunities for young footballers.

Currently, over 400 clubs from across Nigeria are participating in the Nationwide League One.
