NLO Enhances Football Standards and Talent Development

The Nationwide League One (NLO), under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Olushola Ogunowo, is implementing reforms to elevate football administration and enhance talent development in Nigeria. In an interview on the Sports World Platform, Ogunowo discussed the league's strategic initiatives, which involve nearly 400 clubs across Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of education in curbing misconduct among clubs, noting that the NLO organizes regular training programs for club administrators to improve professionalism. Ogunowo highlighted a recent initiative where about 30 club chairmen visited the United Kingdom to learn from successful football organizations, a program that will continue into the 2024/2025 season.

Regarding officiating standards, he clarified that while the NLO does not directly discipline referees, it reports misconduct to the Referees Appointment Committee and the Nigeria Football Federation for investigation. Ogunowo also reaffirmed the NLO's commitment to providing competitive opportunities for young players to ensure their progression in football.
