Wike: Opposition Credibility Comes from Electoral Wins

Nyesom Wike, a leader within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the credibility of the opposition is earned through electoral victories, not through emergency coalitions. He made this declaration during a visit to the PDP national headquarters in Abuja, amid ongoing political realignments as parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.

Wike pledged loyalty to the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP and dismissed claims that smaller political groups could lead the opposition. He emphasized that electoral performance is the true measure of relevance and that the party cannot be considered an opposition force without winning elections.

Wike acknowledged the internal challenges faced by the PDP, admitting that overcoming these issues will require hard work and sacrifice. He expressed confidence that the party would prevail in ongoing legal battles and urged the NWC to prioritize reconciliation, particularly with defectors.

PDP National Chairman Abdulrahman Moham assured that the new leadership would restore public confidence in the party.
