Wike Critiques Amaechi, Backs Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has reignited political tensions with his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, by declaring that Rivers State will apply Amaechi's definition of "brotherhood" to reject him in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking at a civic reception in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Wike referenced Amaechi's past statements regarding brotherhood, particularly during the 2015 elections when Amaechi opposed former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Wike questioned Amaechi's contributions to Rivers State during his seven years as Minister of Transportation, highlighting a lack of federal projects and support for local scholars. In contrast, Wike praised President Bola Tinubu for addressing the state's concerns and providing support, asserting that Tinubu embodies the true meaning of brotherhood as defined by Amaechi.

Wike's remarks signal a clear political alignment with Tinubu as they approach the 2027 elections.
