Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu on Workers' Day

On Workers’ Day, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized the Nigerian government, specifically President Bola Tinubu, for the increasing economic hardship faced by workers. In a message posted on Friday via X, Atiku emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidies has led to a significant rise in living costs, including transport fares and food prices, without corresponding wage adjustments.

He noted that while the subsidy removal was necessary, its implementation was poorly structured and lacked safeguards for ordinary Nigerians. Atiku expressed concern over the management of funds saved from the subsidy, stating that despite reported savings of trillions of naira, the average Nigerian has not experienced any improvement in their living conditions.

He urged the federal government to implement urgent measures such as wage adjustments, social support programs, and increased investment in key sectors like healthcare and education to improve the lives of workers. Atiku reaffirmed his solidarity with Nigerian workers, highlighting their resilience amid ongoing hardships.
