Troops Rescue 31 Travelers from Boko Haram in Yobe

On Sunday, troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion, under the Operational Command of OPHK, conducted a successful operation along the Buratai–Dutsen Kura–Kamuya axis, rescuing 31 travelers who had been abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Damaturu–Biu Road. Mohammed Goni, reported that the operation was initiated after the military detected the movement of the terrorists through a real-time surveillance system. The insurgents had intercepted four civilian vehicles and were attempting to transport the victims into the Sambisa Forest.

A Quick Response Force was deployed based on actionable intelligence, leading to an engagement with the terrorists. The insurgents abandoned the abducted civilians and four vehicles during the encounter and fled into the bush.

The troops also recovered motorcycles left behind by the fleeing terrorists. All rescued civilians were unharmed, and the vehicles were returned to their owners in Buratai, allowing them to continue their journey.

This operation demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-driven military actions in safeguarding civilians and disrupting terrorist activities in the North-East.
