YPP's Filani Calls for Probe into 2025, 2026 Budgets

Hon. Julius Olajide Filani, a presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has urged the National Assembly to investigate the implementation of the 2025 and 2026 budgets.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Filani emphasized the need for legislative scrutiny following comments from Senate Chief Whip Senator Tahir Monguno about challenges in the 2025 budget's implementation. He expressed concerns over a significant rollover of 70 percent of the 2025 budget into 2026, questioning the accountability of budget implementation.

Filani called for a comprehensive review of the budget process and urged lawmakers to ensure that public funds are properly accounted for. He also highlighted the need for transparency in the management of federation revenues and called for the National Assembly to make relevant financial records available for public scrutiny.

Filani's statements reflect a broader concern regarding the effectiveness of budgetary allocations, particularly to security agencies, amid ongoing security challenges in Nigeria.
