Zamfara State Enhances Commitment to Girl-Child Education

The Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Zamfara AGILE Project Implementation Unit have reaffirmed their commitment to improving access to safe and quality education for girls in Zamfara State. This pledge was made during a strategic review meeting on Friday in Gusau, attended by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, and State Project Coordinator, Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau.

The meeting aimed to assess the progress of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program, review ongoing efforts, and explore stronger collaboration with other Ministry initiatives. Key discussions included strategies to increase girls’ enrollment, improve retention, and ensure completion of education.

Gajam emphasized the importance of partnership in overcoming barriers to girls’ education and commended the AGILE team for their dedication. The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance coordination and align AGILE activities with broader Ministry programs to promote inclusive education.

The AGILE project is a World Bank-assisted initiative focused on improving secondary education for girls aged 10 to 20.
