CNG Condemns Zamfara Massacre of 23 Farmers, Urges Action

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) condemned the massacre of 23 farmers by suspected armed bandits in Sauna District of Talata Mafara local government area, Zamfara State. In a statement issued on Saturday by CNG’s national coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group expressed condolences to the victims' families and the Zamfara state government.

The farmers were reportedly attacked while cultivating their farmlands, illustrating the growing threat posed by armed criminal groups to rural communities. CNG emphasized the urgency for the federal government and security agencies to conduct decisive operations against banditry and enhance protection for farming communities.

The statement highlighted the critical timing of the attack during the rainy season, which is vital for agricultural activities. The CNG warned that ongoing insecurity could lead to reduced agricultural output, food shortages, and increased economic hardship across Nigeria, stressing that national food security cannot be achieved without protecting farmers.
