Zulum Supports Establishment of Tax Ombud Office in Maiduguri

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, expressed his administration's commitment to supporting the establishment of a regional office for the Office of the Tax Ombud in Maiduguri. This announcement was made during a courtesy visit from a delegation led by Dr John C.

Nwabeze, the Chief Executive of the Office of the Tax Ombud, who was introduced following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu. Governor Zulum emphasized that Borno State, as the regional hub of the North East, would collaborate with the new institution to enhance its operations.

He instructed the Secretary to the State Government, the Commissioner for Finance, and the State Internal Revenue Service to engage with the delegation to address immediate needs. Additionally, he directed relevant officials to identify suitable locations for the office and assured that temporary accommodation would be provided while considering long-term solutions.

Dr Nwabeze highlighted the office's role in resolving taxpayer complaints and disputes with tax authorities.
