Diaspora Athletes Invited for 2026 National Intermediate Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially invited diaspora athletes to participate in the 2026 National Intermediate Games, scheduled to take place in Lagos, marking the diaspora as the 38th state. This initiative, announced by the NSC under the leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon.

Bukola Olopade, aims to renew hope in Nigeria's sports economy. The Diaspora Discovery Athletes Committee, chaired by Tund Adelakun, has already begun preparations, emphasizing the significant interest from the Nigerian diaspora to compete.

The NSC's Director General highlighted that the inclusion of diaspora athletes will enhance the competitive edge of Team Nigeria in major international competitions. The games are expected to feature 50 athletes from the diaspora, which is seen as a potential game changer for Nigerian sports.

The NSC has also established a camp site in Europe for training and selection of athletes, who are eager to participate in this historic event.
