Islamic Scholars Endorse Tinubu for 2027 Elections

On Thursday, in Jos, Deputy President of the Senate Jibril Barau joined over 500 stakeholders to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office at a national symposium organized by the Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS). The event, themed "Enhanced Political Participation and Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria," attracted over 350 participants, including prominent Islamic clerics, academics, and political leaders.

JIBWIS National President Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir hosted the symposium, which included governors from Kano, Sokoto, Yobe, and Jigawa States, as well as the Minister of Water Resources and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs. JIBWIS pledged to support the Ulama'u Council chairman's position ahead of the elections, potentially including a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

The group stressed that political engagement should be based on integrity and competence, not ethnic or religious sentiments, while also addressing security concerns in Nigeria.
