Security Training Launched for 2027 Election Preparedness

On August 31, 2026, the Force Zone 2 Command commenced a specialized training program aimed at senior officers from the police, military, and ten other security and paramilitary agencies in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The event, held at the Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, was organized in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research (IPSPR) under the theme 'Professionalism, Neutrality and Collaboration: Strengthening Election Security for Safe and Credible Polls.' The training utilized a train-the-trainer format, allowing participants to relay their knowledge to personnel assigned for the elections.

AIG Olohundare Jimoh, overseeing Lagos and Ogun states, stated that the training was directed by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and would cover three phases of the election process. He noted the calm political climate in Lagos and Ogun, citing the success of previous local government elections.

The training was officially opened by retired Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu, emphasizing the importance of competence and sound judgment among officers.
