Sowore Promises ₦500,000 Wage, 24-Hour Electricity in 2027

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has pledged to introduce a ₦500,000 monthly living minimum wage for Nigerian workers if elected in the 2027 general elections. In an interview with Independent, Sowore outlined his party's agenda, which includes providing 24-hour electricity, making education free and accessible at all levels, constructing one million public mixed-income homes, and reforming tenancy laws to alleviate the burden of advance rent payments.

He emphasized the need for revolutionary justice and equal rights, criticizing the current economic system that benefits a small elite. Sowore also committed to industrializing Nigeria, expanding agricultural production, and improving healthcare access.

He stated that the AAC would rely on a "people funded campaign" rather than wealthy patrons. Sowore is among the 18 candidates announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 elections and believes Nigerians are ready for a leftist government to address inequality and poverty.
