Aregbesola Calls "Renewed Hope" a Scam at ADC Convention

Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of Osun State and a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), delivered a scathing critique of the current administration's "Renewed Hope" agenda during a party convention in Abuja on Tuesday. He described the agenda as a scam, asserting that the government had failed to fulfill its promises made four years ago, which included improving the lives of Nigerians.

Aregbesola pointed to significant economic decline, citing the naira's sharp depreciation to N700 per dollar in the parallel market and rising fuel prices from N185 to N238 per liter. He condemned the government's handling of the power sector, noting that electricity supply had worsened, with some areas receiving only two hours of power daily.

Aregbesola also expressed concern over increasing violence and poverty levels, urging Nigerians to support ADC's mission to prevent the ruling party from retaining power. The convention saw the ratification of a national working committee led by David Mark and the adoption of a revised party manifesto.
