Sowore Promises N500,000 Wage and 24-Hour Electricity

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has announced his plans for the 2027 general elections, promising a monthly living minimum wage of N500,000 for Nigerian workers. In an interview with Independent, Sowore outlined his agenda, which includes providing 24-hour electricity, making education free and accessible at all levels, constructing one million public mixed-income homes, and reforming tenancy laws to alleviate the burden of advance rent payments.

He emphasized that Nigeria is wealthy but has a system that impoverishes its citizens through corruption and incompetence. Sowore's proposals also include industrializing Nigeria, expanding agricultural production, and reforming policing and security.

He stated that the AAC would run a "people funded campaign" and expressed confidence that Nigerians are ready for a leftist government that prioritizes social welfare. Sowore's vision includes universal education, healthcare, decent housing, and dignified employment, asserting that Nigeria's resources should benefit its citizens rather than a select few.
