25-Year-Old Man Dies After Falling into Soakaway in Oyo

On May 22, 2023, a 25-year-old man fell into a soakaway in the Kinnira area opposite Zion Christian Academy School in Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The incident occurred while he was attempting to inspect a storage tank located near the soakaway.

The Oyo State Fire Service received a distress call at 7:41 PM and promptly deployed personnel led by CF Dairo to the scene for rescue operations. Despite their efforts, the victim was recovered lifeless.

The Nigeria Police Force, specifically the Ogbomoso Division, is investigating the incident. It was revealed that the man lost his balance while trying to determine the water level in the storage tank, leading to the accident.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution around soakaways and wells, warning that uncovered sites pose serious safety risks if left unsecured.
