Man Dies Retrieving Phone from Abandoned Well in Kano

A tragic incident occurred in Kano State when a man died while trying to retrieve his phone from an abandoned well. The Kano State Fire Service received a distress call at 11:13 AM on Wednesday.

According to spokesperson Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the firefighting unit was immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered the victim trapped inside the well, which had been converted into a refuse pit.

Despite their efforts, the victim was found unconscious and was later confirmed dead, reportedly due to oxygen depletion and excessive heat inside the pit. The deceased was identified as Abdullahi, and his body was handed over to his family for burial arrangements in Kwa Town, with Alhaji Muktar overseeing the process.

Abdullahi urged residents to ensure that abandoned wells are properly covered or filled to prevent similar tragedies and called on parents and community leaders to take proactive measures to safeguard lives.
