APC Faces Internal Crisis Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

As the August 15 governorship election approaches, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is experiencing a significant internal crisis, despite assurances from leadership. Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu has been deployed to Osun State to manage rising violence linked to the party's internal conflicts.

The APC is at risk of losing the governorship to incumbent Ademola Adeleke, who is campaigning for re-election. A mass exodus of party members, including influential figures like Iyiola Omisore and Folorunso Bamisayemi, has occurred due to dissatisfaction with the party's primary election process.

Disqualifications during the primaries have fueled discontent, with Omisore publicly denouncing the process as unfair. The APC's leadership, under Gboyega Oyetola, faces criticism for failing to create an inclusive environment, which has contributed to the party's unraveling.

The situation is compounded by the party's poor performance in the 2022 elections and ongoing internal disputes.
