Four Die in Katsina Stampede During Ramadan Alms Distribution

On February 26, 2026, a tragic stampede occurred in Kofar Guga Quarter, Katsina, during the distribution of annual Ramadan alms, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. The Katsina Police Command, represented by spokesperson DSP Aliyu Abubakar, expressed regret over the incident, which also left several others injured.

The police received a distress call at 9 p.m. regarding a large crowd gathered at the residence of a philanthropist. Upon arrival, police teams responded promptly, and rescuers transported the injured to the nearest hospital for medical attention.

Unfortunately, four of the injured later succumbed to their injuries. The Commissioner of Police, Mr.

Bello Shehu, extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He also directed further investigations and emphasized the need for necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.

The police command urged individuals wishing to distribute alms to notify them for adequate security coverage to ensure the safety of lives and property during such events.
