Ebonyi State Residents Flee After Ultimatum Over Attack

In Ebonyi State, Amasiri residents fled their community within hours of the government's 72-hour ultimatum following an attack in Okporojo community. The state government demanded the production of several severed heads and the return of abducted individuals.

Governor Francis Nwifuru announced the ultimatum during a security meeting in Abakaliki. The situation has led to fear and tension among the residents, with many seeking refuge in Afikpo town and Cross River State.

Mr. Chimaobi Kalu, a businessman from Abia State, appealed for security measures to prevent looting and unrest.

The residents, including women, children, and the elderly, have faced hardships, hunger, and restricted movement, with some fleeing to the bush. The government has warned of stringent actions against non-compliance with the ultimatum.
