ADC Chieftain Condemns Violent Attack on Party Members in Lagos

Olalekan Anjolaiya, a chieftain of the African Democrat Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, strongly condemned the violent attack on party members during a defection ceremony from the Labour Party (LP) to ADC in Alimosho Local Government Area. Unidentified hoodlums, numbering around 100, stormed the venue wielding weapons and causing mayhem.

The hoodlums allegedly beat anyone caught, leading to injuries of various degrees among party members. The LP chairman, Olanrewaju Olushola, described the attack as unwarranted and disturbing.

The police intervened, sealing off the venue after the disruption. Anjolaiya criticized the attack as an assault on innocent citizens and a violation of democratic rights.

He also highlighted similar violent attacks on supporters of the LP's 2023 governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhode Vivour. The incident underscores concerns about political violence and the need to protect democratic processes in Nigeria.
