ADC Denies Claims of Nafiu Bala's Vice Chair Appointment

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially denied claims regarding an agreement to appoint Nafiu Bala as the North-East Vice Chairman. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesman, clarified in an interview with Punch that no such arrangement exists, labeling the claims as false.

The controversy arises amid a leadership crisis within the party, which Abdullahi attributes to the influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and external interference. Ishaku Abbo, a former senator representing Adamawa North, alleged that the leadership crisis stems from internal disagreements and a failure to honor agreements regarding the allocation of positions among coalition members.

Abdullahi further stated that the party's national leadership has no knowledge of any agreement and warned that such claims could undermine the party's integrity. Despite the ongoing crisis, the ADC is proceeding with its scheduled activities, including a national convention set for April 14.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also confirmed that it will maintain the status quo pending a court ruling related to the party's leadership disputes.
