Olarewaju Defends Atiku's ADC Ticket Amid Coalition Talks

Demola Olarewaju, a senior political assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has defended the coalition formed around the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserting that Atiku will not lose the ADC ticket. Olarewaju emphasized that the coalition is not centered on personal ambitions but aims for a broader democratic convergence among political actors.

He discussed Atiku's political identity, highlighting his long-standing tradition within the democratic framework and his willingness to accept inter-party outcomes, even when unfavorable. Olarewaju pointed out that critics often overlook Atiku's historical patterns when analyzing his current political posture, tracing Atiku's political journey back to the early 1990s.

He recalled Atiku's run for governor in 1992 during Nigeria's military transition era, noting that political disqualification at that time altered the structure of contests, allowing younger political actors to emerge through mentorship.
