ADC Not a Vehicle for Ambitious Politicians, Says Abdullahi

Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declared that the party is not a "special purpose vehicle" for ambitious politicians seeking an easy platform for elections. In an interview with Primetime Arise TV, Abdullahi stressed that aspirants must align with the party's ideology and policies.

He noted that the ADC is positioning itself as a serious political alternative with a comprehensive manifesto addressing key national issues, including fuel subsidy, national security, and governance reform. Abdullahi criticized political figures interested in the party without commitment to its foundational ideologies.

He described recent developments within opposition circles as a temporary setback and expressed confidence that the ADC would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC's National Executive Committee (NEC) announced that the presidential primaries will take place during a special convention on May 24, 2026, following non-elective congresses scheduled for May 7 and May 8, 2026.

Abdullahi warned members against engaging with unauthorized groups.
