Bala Mohammed Weighs Political Options Amid PDP Crisis
• Naijanews • Politics
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has not yet left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to careful consideration of his political future. Dayyabu Chiroma, the party spokesman, stated that the governor is focused on protecting the interests of the party and avoiding hasty decisions that could be detrimental. The PDP is currently facing a leadership crisis, with a recent court ruling nullifying a convention that produced new leadership. Meanwhile, factions within the PDP, including one led by Nyesom Wike, have held their own conventions. Governor Mohammed has attempted to engage with the All Progressives Congress (APC) but claims he was not welcomed. A committee has been established to evaluate the implications of a potential exit from the PDP and to recommend suitable political platforms ahead of the 2027 general elections. This committee includes various representatives from the party structure in Bauchi State.
