Afe Babalola Urges FG to Repair Deplorable Ekiti Road

Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), the Chancellor of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), has called on the Federal Government to take immediate action regarding the deplorable condition of the Ado-Ijan-Ilumoba-Ikole Road in Ekiti State. In a statement made in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Babalola emphasized the road's significance as it connects various communities and institutions, including ABUAD, the ABUAD Multi-system Hospital, and the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport.

He lamented that the road has been neglected for years, rendering it impassable and affecting the ability of lecturers living outside the campus to commute to work. Babalola noted that despite his numerous appeals to the Federal Government and various officials, including a letter to the then Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on January 24, 2022, no action has been taken.

He revealed that ABUAD had previously invested billions in repairing the road and the old Ureje Bridge but criticized the contractors for worsening the road's condition.
