Air Chief Addresses Misinformation in Military Operations

On Monday, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), expressed concern over misinformation and hostile narratives affecting military operations at the 2026 Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) Annual Media Workshop in Abuja. Represented by Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Yaro Abdullahi, he stated that the current information environment is complex and that effective public communication is essential for mission success.

Aneke urged information officers to act as strategic communicators, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, professionalism, and integrity in their communications. He called for proactive engagement to counter misinformation and strengthen public trust in the Nigerian Air Force.

Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, highlighted that credible communication can enhance public confidence and protect the institution's reputation. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of DOPRI, noted that military operations are contested beyond the battlefield, underscoring the need for effective communication strategies.
