Akwa Ibom Commissioner Advocates Workplace Sports Engagement

On June 25, 2023, Paul Bassei, the Commissioner for Sports in Akwa Ibom State, delivered a lecture advocating for routine workplace sports engagement as part of the activities marking the 2026 Federal Civil Service Week. He highlighted that regular sports activities serve as a catalyst for health, discipline, and enhanced workplace performance.

Bassei noted that engaging in sports can boost team spirit among staff and foster a productive organizational environment. He referenced scientific findings that indicate physical activity releases positive hormones, improving memory, attention, and decision-making abilities.

The lecture took place at the Federal Secretariat conference room and was part of a week-long event scheduled from June 20 to June 28, culminating in the unveiling of the AHF sports jersey. Uduak Essien, the chairman of the association, was present during the lecture, which also included biblical references to emphasize the timeless importance of sports.
