AMCRON to Host Conference on Media and Democracy

The Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) has announced its sixth International Academic Conference and Annual General Meeting, scheduled for November 25 and 26, 2026. The event will take place at the Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The conference theme is “Beyond the Inverted Pyramid Formula: Democracy, the Media, the Politicians and the People in Nigeria’s General Elections.” Prof Eserinune Mojaye, President of AMCRON, stated that the conference aims to gather journalists, media practitioners, politicians, political parties, academics, policymakers, social researchers, and other stakeholders to discuss the media's role in Nigeria's democratic process. Dr Kehinde Oyesomi, the association’s Director of Networking and Publicity, mentioned that the conference will examine the impact of strategic communication, digital media, and media ownership on public trust and electoral information credibility.

The conference will also address media framing, digital propaganda, fact-checking, and the influence of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence on public opinion and national stability.
