Anosike Advocates Media-Government Partnership for 2027

Dr. Kelechi Anosike, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, addressed members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) during their Monthly Congress at the NUJ Press Centre in Umuahia. He emphasized the necessity for government and media to collaborate as partners to protect democracy and the welfare of citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Anosike, a legal practitioner and international oil and gas commercial lawyer, stated that the media's role is to ensure accountability rather than serve as a public relations tool for politicians. He urged journalists to critically assess candidates and their policies, focusing on substantive ideas rather than personalities.

Anosike proposed regular engagement between the media and government, advocating for monthly media chats and access to critical information. He also highlighted the importance of journalists' welfare, asserting that a welfarist government should support the media in fulfilling its role.
